Children suffer from
many of the same conditions as adults. Fractures are much more common
in children due to relatively weaker bones, high activity levels, and
risk taking behavior. However, children also have orthopedic conditions
very specific to their age group which must be recognized to avoid
problems, which if missed, could lead to lifelong disability or
deformity. These conditions start from birth and include hip dysplasia
and clubfoot. Other conditions arise during growth, these include
Perthes disease (a circulatory problem of the hip joint), scoliosis
(curvature of the spine), and slipped capital femoral epiphysis (a
painful hip condition seen in adolescents). These conditions and others
require the expertise of an orthopedic surgeon to accurately diagnose.
Dr. Hausmann is happy to see and treat children of all ages.
